Gatsby: The Great American Novel Comes to Life
(FILM + PHOTO + STYLE)

The highly-anticipated film version of the “The Great Gatsby” is premiering this weekend and we can’t wait to see this American classic come to life on the big screen.

Set in the jubilant era of 1920’s New York, the film perfectly captures the extravagance and gaiety that defined the time period.

See how the set and cast have transformed since the first release of the movie in 1974, starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow. We think that Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan may give them a run for their money…

The movie’s fashions are already being raved about and have inspired multiple collaborations with the film’s costume designer Catherine Martin. Brooks Brother’s released the limited-edition “Gatsby Collection” which exudes the high-class sense of style that is portrayed in the film. Brooks Brothers’ produced almost all of the male clothing worn in the movie including the black bow tie worn by Leonardo DiCaprio on the film’s poster.

BEATS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD
(FILM)

Since winning the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance this past January, Beasts of the Southern Wild has been buzzing with excitement. At Cannes, several months later, the film won the Camera d’Or (best film by a new director), which garnered it even more attention and hype. The film is currently playing at the Landmark Sunshine theater downtown, and although it wasn’t quite all that I expected it to be it is certainly worth checking out on the big screen.

“The Isle of Man Tourist Trophy is the greatest motorcycle road race in the world, the ultimate challenge for rider and machine. It has always called for a commitment far beyond any other racing event, and many have made the ultimate sacrifice in their quest for victory. A story about freedom of choice, the strength of human spirit and the will to win.”
